FAQs about the Men’s Group

Who is this men’s therapy group for?

This program is designed for men who recognize that their anger, controlling behaviour, emotional withdrawal, or abusive actions are affecting their relationships and overall well-being, and who want practical strategies to change. This program is available to men in Ontario, Canada.

How are the online sessions structured?

We meet twice per month via a secure, confidential video platform. Each session provides an opportunity to speak with the facilitator and other men who likely share many of the same challenges in relationships that you do and can relate to your struggles. Our meetings focus on building skills in emotional regulation, communication, accountability, and healthy coping.

Is this service confidential?

Absolutely. Every participant signs a confidentiality agreement. We promote a judgment-free, respectful space where personal growth is shared safely among trusted members. We do not add new members once the group has started and all participants agree ahead of the sessions to a detailed agreement committing to maintaining confidentiality.

How long is the program?

12 sessions over 6 months. We do ask members to commit to attending the entire 12 sessions of the group but understand that things come up and you may have to miss a meeting or two. We find that the best groups are those where everyone shows up and participates because the men can really relate to each other and there is a feeling of continuity from session to session.

What happens if I miss a session?

Consistency is important, but we understand real-life responsibilities. If you have to miss a meeting, please let us know in advance when possible. We will send you a copy of the slides from that evening and encourage you to book a private session to go over what was missed if you can!

What kind of tools and skills will I learn?

You’ll learn techniques for managing anger, communicating boundaries and needs assertively (not aggressively), coping with triggers, de-escalating conflict, and fostering healthier connections in both personal and family relationships. We do a lot of great work on handling stress in our lives and you will learn great tools for coping with frustration and triggers. We do a lot of laughing in the groups also! These groups are helpful and fun.
